The healing process begins here.

Hi, I’m Diane.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist offering one-on-one therapy to patients in person in the New York City area as well as remote sessions.

I work from a foundation of psychoanalysis, and my practice involves guiding patients as they confront and process the uncomfortable thoughts, feelings and behavior patterns that disrupt their lives. I provide a safe, compassionate space where we can explore and begin to heal the deep wounds of complex trauma.

During the healing process, we begin to make connections between feelings, thoughts and memories and recognize the deeply rooted motivations that drive behavior. Understanding these patterns frees people to make better choices, identify and break counterproductive cycles and build healthier relationships.

I understand and respect the fact that it takes courage to seek and continue to engage in psychotherapy, and I aspire to make the process feel as safe and useful as possible.

Who I work with:

  • Adults who are struggling with depression and anxiety and have histories of childhood trauma, including sexual and physical abuse and domestic violence.

  • People who have experienced adult-onset trauma, such as post-9/11, combat trauma, sexual assaults and accidents.

  • Young adults who are managing the stress of major life transitions, such as entering college, navigating life in NYC, or establishing and maintaining boundaries with family.

  • People who are processing issues of identity, especially sexual and gender identity, internalized bigotry (racism, sexism, homophobia), acculturation, migration and social class.

Over the course of our work together, you can expect a decrease in symptoms and enhanced wellbeing as well as increased self-understanding and self-acceptance.

I have worked with individuals struggling with a range of issues including:

  • workplace stress

  • severe mental illness

  • recovery from addiction

  • coping with a mentally ill or substance addicted family member

  • managing fertility issues

  • medical illnesses, both chronic (HIV+ diagnosis) and potentially terminal (cancer)

  • grief, both recent and unresolved

I am conscious of managing my role as both a skilled and knowledgeable authority figure and a grounded, accessible human being.

Incremental progress is still progress.

Because psychotherapy is a collaborative process, it isn’t effective unless both parties are active participants. I ask that you come to the process with an open mind and an understanding that incremental progress is still progress.
